Indian Couple Banned From Nepal For Faking Photos Of Themselves On Mount Everest

Nepal has imposed a 10-year mountaineering ban on an Indian couple who faked photographs claiming to show them at the top of Mount Everest, an official said on Tuesday.

The couple, Dinesh and Tarakeshwari Rathod said they reached the top of the Mountain on May 23. Fellow climbers doubted their claim, saying they had tempered with the photos showing them at the summit. Nepal’s tourism department investigated the claims and found out the couple had faked their summit.

Speaking to AFP the tourism department chief Sudarshan Prasad Dhakal said that a 10-years ban was imposed on them against climbing any Mountain in Nepal.

dhakal said an analysis of the photos submitted by the couple showed they had superimposed themselves and their banners on photos taken by another Indian climber of his Everest summit
